Lyanna walked briskly through the halls of her house. She felt like running, but restrained herself to an urgently-paced walk until she reached the room of her parents. Her father was out for now, so it was time to have some girl-to-girl talk with her mother dearest, Olivia Raske. She knocked on the door gingerly and waited for her mother's melodic voice to usher her in. "Mother," Lyanna began, her voice despondent already, as she took a seat on the edge of the bed and looked up at her lovely mother with big, sad eyes. "One of the knights in the town was being rather sweet to me the other day. He even hinted that he may want to spend time with me when he isn't working." She spoke in a dreamy tone when recalling the even. He had been prince charming incarnate, golden blonde hair and blue eyes of the loveliest shade.
But her smile soon faded and her voice returned to its former state, "But I don't think Father will approve. I think he thinks I'm too young to see a boy." It was positively unusual in her opinion. Last century it was okay for thirteen year olds to get married, after all! Her mother would be her best bet, they seemed to be getting along more and more as Lyanna grew up--and her poor father was being left with out the former daddy's girl. "Please Mother, you must convince him! I-I'm ready to date! He's so handsome too!" Perhaps in a few years Lyanna would hear herself talking like this and realize how ridiculous she truly sounded.

The nimble presence of her daughter did not mind Olivia at all. In fact, with a day off for the adult ginger, she wished to spend time with her children, at least. ”Lyanna?” she called her daughter in, watching as her daughter took a seat on the bed, with a rather strange goofy smile on her face. Taking a seat behind her child, she grabbed a brush from the mantle nearby, only to start combing out any knots in Lyanna’s thick brownish auburn hair. However, she did not need to brush long, for her daughter takes care of her hair in superb ways. It made Olivia frown for a second, remembering how she use to be the one to brush Lyanna’s hair everyday. Listening to her daughter speak about some mysterious knight surprised Olivia, she didn’t believe Lyanna would be talking about boys so soon. ”Oh, how nice, Lyanna.” she smiled, her fingers nimbly weaving her daughter’s hair into a braid.
”But, sweetling, you’re only fourteen.” she reminded her daughter, tying a knot at the end of her daughter’s braid. Rising from the bed, she stood in front of her daughter, noting a reddening blush on Lyanna’s face. Not so soon, Olivia thought. She would rather her daughter to play with dolls than dating boys. ”I didn’t date till I was a bit older than you are,” she continued, trying to convince Lyanna to think otherwise of her own decision. Sighing, she knew her daughter would not let up unless Olivia risked to witness Lyanna’s strict stubborn nature whenever she does not get what she wants. ”I’ll try to convince him. But I need a name, what do they call your knight? And, I would rather you have a chaperon if you do go on dates,” she ordered, laying down the laws regardless.

Lyanna frowned at the mention of her age, why was it that her parents wanted her to wait so much? Didn't they know that her dream was to be picked up by a dashing knight and ride off into the sunset with him? Coincidently, she never seemed to put any thought into what came after the sunset ride; such is the life of a young, naive girl. "But Mother, I'm ready to date!" She insisted, her normally calm voice going up in pitch as she felt the anguished sting of her feelings being discouraged. "Yes I know, but you didn't meet Father when you were fourteen, did you?" Obviously Lyanna seemed to think that her mother had only ever been interested in one boy and one boy only. She thought that the first time you met the person you like, you were destined to marry them in the end. Plus it was difficult for Lyanna to even consider her mother with someone besides Daniel Raske.
"Please please mother, this is all I ever wanted!" She insisted some more, twisting in her seat to face her mother, blinking her big eyes in hopes of swaying her. It seemed to work for a time, but then the word chaperon was mentioned. "Well, his name is J something. I want to say Jeffrey, you have to understand I've only met him once." Lyanna had no idea admitting to that was going to be counter-productive for her dating cause. "Do I truly need a chaperon, Mother don't you trust me?" Of course it was probably this strange knight hitting on a fourteen year old that her Mother did not trust, but Lyanna had never considered that. "Who would be chaperoning me? You?" Lyanna asked, not completely crossing the idea off of the list. Besides, a chaperoned date was better than no date at all, right?

Olivia could not choose either to laugh at her poor daughter’s thoughts of fairytale love or to lecture her. Now, Olivia may not be the best mother role model for her children. She tends to invite them for pranks or other mischievous deeds. However, when it came down to her children growing up, she is clueless. ”Ummmm,” she pondered, biting her lip, watching as Lyanna gave her a look full of wonder and want. ”No, I was fourteen, and a foolish child, I didn’t meet him till I was seventeen” she responded neatly as she patted her daughter’s head. ”I was too busy being a child, like you should!” she exclaimed, a smile on her face. ”Don’t you want to, um, play dolls or build castles?” she questioned, hoping her daughter will choose that option rather than dating. Lyanna is still too young and mind full of innocent fairytale thoughts that she would break in the real world.
However, as a mother, Olivia always felt the need to please her children, especially Lyanna. As her daughter pouted with those large naïve eyes, it was enough to sway her to want Lyanna wants. Olivia turned her face away, not falling for the trap that her daughter so cleverly showed. ”And you said you only met him once” she glanced down at her feet, crinkling her toes as to relieve the stress. ”Sweetling, I don’t think it is wise to go on a date with a guy you met once. You two barely even know each other.” she expressed, brushing her fingers on Lyanna’s weaved braid. ”And would that be such an awful thing? For me to chaperon you? Or, would you rather have that sweet friend of yours, Rhaena?” she questioned, smiling warmly down at the young girl.
”Actually, I would rather it be Rhaena with you, as well. You two get along, from what I see. And she’s the sweetest girl, too.”
